Supporting horticulture at Adana

Apr. 6, 2011

Toros Agri, particularly aiming to include women farmers into the qualified workforce has started supporting a new study. “Project on Training Qualified Horticulturist to Contribute to Increase in Employment at the Province of Adana” project conducted by The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) Adana Women Entrepreneurs Council in coordination with Adana Commercial Exchange has gone live under Toros Agri’s main sponsorship.

Despite its rich business potential, Adana is one of the cities with a highest unemployment rate in Turkey. The project, planning to grow well-trained and competent horticulturists, aims to provide women an occupation and thus support sustainable employment.

As part of the project, which was launched on 24 March 2011, 20 farmer couples living in Adana province shall receive theoretical and practical training for 5 months. The farmers shall be trained on modern agricultural practices and following the training they will be employed as qualified employers.
