Tekfen is the main sponsor of Darüşşafaka Basketball Team

Tekfen has become the main sponsor of Darüşşafaka, one of the teams in Tahincioğlu Basketball Super League. Darüşşafaka Basketball Team will compete under the name of Darüşşafaka Tekfen in the new season.

Murat Gigin the Board Chairman of Tekfen Holding, Ümit Başkırt the President of Darüşşafaka Sports Club, Talha Çamaş the Chairman of Darüşşafaka Society, Ahmet Çakı the Head Coach of Darüşşafaka Basketball Team and Doğuş Özdemiroğlu the player of the green-black coloured team were present in the signing ceremony held on 3 September 2018.

In the speech given by Murat Gigin the Board Chairman of Tekfen Holding, he stated that the agreement that they concluded with Darüşşafaka Club had a profound meaning for them and added, “I consider this association as the spiritual meeting of  two exemplary institutions, far beyond its material aspect.”

Emphasizing that both institutions had strong humanitarian and conscientious dimensions, Gigin stated, “These common values lie at the bottom of our sponsorship for Darüşşafaka. This alliance represents the union of two world-class local institutions joining their forces in the international arena. We consider ourselves lucky since we have become the sponsor of a team favoured by not only a specific fan group, but also all segments of the society. Darüşşafaka will represent our country in THY EuroLeague. We will be excited and proud of sponsoring such a team”.

Darüşşafaka Club President Ümit Başkırt also stated in his speech that they were happy to see Tekfen brand standing by them. Expressing that Tekfen did not leave them alone this season during which they would compete in THY EuroLeague, Başkırt added, “Teams are admitted to THY EuroLeague according to some financial fair play criteria. Tekfen gave us the opportunity to fulfil those requirements. Our goal is to experience a beautiful season by creating a team outperforming and putting up a good fight in basketball.”

Talha Çamaş the President of Darüşşafaka Society thanked for the support provided and said, “I call the alliance of Tekfen family and Darüşşafaka as the movement of two families walking together, rather than a mere sponsorship. On behalf of Darüşşafaka community, I would like to express my gratitude to Tekfen group for the support that they have provided.”
